I thought the minimalist modern look was interesting but it was weird that they stuck with rapiers as their weapons of choice. Imagine modern-day costumes armed with rapiers. I guess if they went with knives, it would look much like West Side Story.

I do like that the chorus sings Aloha Oe at the end of the performance after the curtain closes. It reminds me that I'm attending opera in Hawaii.
