arcade stick WIP
It isn't perfect, but I just finished drilling out the control panel for the arcade stick I'm building. Next up, drilling/dremeling the back panel to fit 3 additional buttons and a port for a USB cable.
Hard to believe I've let this project sit for so long. I soldered together the board almost a year ago. Yes, it runs free firmware.
Also, my phone is so old and the camera is terrible. Sorry about that.
It would be almost perfect if one of the button holes could be moved 1-2mm to the right. Oh well, all of the buttons fit and it's pretty comfortable. This layout is known as the "Sega Astro City" layout, after the popular line of arcade cabinets that Sega made featuring this configuration.
I've got a long answer to a short question. My favorite is a light gun game called Time Crisis 3. Really fun. For old-school stuff I like Galaga a lot. I've never seen one in person, but I'd love to play a bullet hell shmup like Ikaruga or DoDonPachi on a real arcade cabinet, or a 2D fighter like Guilty Gear or BlazBlue.
2D fighters and shmups are best played with a real arcade stick.
