A small but important update here: a GitLab Issues ticket for the GNU Social project expressed interest in implementing the DFRN federation protocol to ensure better compatibility between #GNUSocial and #Friendica.

Incidentally, on the Friendica side there are many improvements to their OStatus implementation, meaning that cross-platform communication will be much better for both parties.

There shouldn't be a need to do that. In the upcoming release of Friendica we improved the OStatus part a lot.
