I have an OLPC XO prototype, One that was obsoleted month after I got it by the bloat in the software and the lack of RAM. :-(

@hub@identi.ca sounds a lot like my XO-1 I've kept mine going for years by using other OS's (still Linux but much lighter then what OLPC puts out). Even with that it is now starting to show it's age and I may have to move to a still lighter OS to keep it going.
