yes it is indeed. but if you still want to enjoy the Debian stability you can rather opt for the Trisquel LTS Editions.

that package is the gallium 3d driver for nouveau. the Nvidia 9 series is very stable for nouveau. i get a decent 125 fps for some FPS games

Both are almost equal. but Trisquel is much more easy to setup out of the box.

I have an NVIDIA 9400GT. it runs like a breeze. just make sure you have "libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental" installed and you are set for gaming
