"No religion" grows in !Canada to 24%. !atheist !secular http://is.gd/o1gXIc
-
@laurelrusswurm Besides, who should they vote for? No party now shows any sign of really being interested in change.
-
@laurelrusswurm (a) has never been a problem, but (b)? Hard to convince people to vote when they know at LEAST 50% would be wasting time.
-
@laurelrusswurm But frankly ANYTHING would be improvement, even IRV/AV. Only way to get worsedamage is give up even pretence of democracy.
-
@laurelrusswurm IRV/AV would shift balance & give more power to parties that would REALLY benefit from PR. PR would be an easier sell then.
-
@laurelrusswurm The center & left is just too distributed, while conservative support is concentrated and FPTP makes that the way to win.
-
@laurelrusswurm Yup, without some kind of election reform, even if it's just IRV/AV to start, we're kinda screwed.
-
@laurelrusswurm Indeed, they know they have the next election. Not because of their genius; because of incompetence of the other parties.
-
@laurelrusswurm The rest of the left will stubbornly stick to their parties, and the left will be split again. Result: PC victory.
-
@laurelrusswurm Many will wait for media to declare which party can best challenge PC, then support them, no matter their real feelings.
-
@laurelrusswurm Will disaffected LPC & NDP people move to Green? First-past-the-post says no. Same thing that always happens will happen:
-
Corruption scandals led to the demise of the Liberals. Those have been forgotten, and they have a shiny new leader, so they'll bounce back.
-
Yup 80% for #Trudeau on first ballot. #JoyceMurray never had a chance. In politics, personality trumps principles. !canada !cdnpoli
-
@laurelrusswurm Fingers crossed for Joyce Murray! If she wins, and is serious about PR, I might go LPC next election rather than NDP.
-
@laurelrusswurm Quite true. But that's the system we have, and have to win in. At least until they get in and can change it (we hope).
-
@laurelrusswurm It would have been counterproductive to pick an idealist like Layton to hold back the PC as the opposition leader.
-
@laurelrusswurm I don't mind Mulcair, BTW. He's a bulldog, but his job is to stand toe-to-toe with the nastiest of the nasties - the PC.
-
@laurelrusswurm If she plans any election reform beyond that, it's being buried in Trudeamania2 noise.
-
@laurelrusswurm But AFAIK, Murray only plans PR for the 2015 vote, only to choose the LPC/Green/(NDP) candidate who runs against the PC.
