Kickstarter project: Open Source Graphics Processor
Proprietary hardware is still a stumbling block for many free operating systems out there, and a lot of perfectly good hardware isn't capable of being used to its full potential due to to restrictions made by OS vendors and hardware manufacturers.
For years, many GNU/Linux distributions had difficulty even getting basic graphics and wireless to work. It is through ingenuity and hard work that modern distributions are capable of what they are now.Would really, really love to see this gain traction.
A computer built with open hardware is one that a user has full control of when they put a free operating system on it.
