@sndchaser, I think @delvauxnic & @usrshare have reasonable points here; but IMO !Ubuntu went way too far its compromise w/ proprietary sw.Nicolas Delvaux likes this.
This started me thinking: U.S. history has lessons about freedom. We shouldn't ignore those lessons with regards to proprietary software.I think I'm on the verge of taking an even harder line than you with regards to !ubuntu :)

The point is, having a mostly-free OS that works is way better for future of FOSS than having a fully free one that doesn't.Nicolas Delvaux likes this.
