Alcohol culture is insane. Even "healthy" things like a running relays (eg #ragnar) is full of people apparently dependent on it.

Howabout Silicon Valley go back to growing fruit and the North Bay go back to (what did they do there before wine?)?
pot... or oak trees and fishing.

To be clear, I also drink sometimes (twice/month now, drank more than my share in college/grad school), but ...
But so many of our cultural bonding events heavily incorporate over drinking; most sports, most music, most festivals, etc.
Both the double standard with other drugs and me feeling left out (now) are what bother me.
