This was a major reason I didn't use/like @github (along with non-FLOSS). But this @nrrrdcore situation takes the cake.

Not the worst, but still, fuck closed companies. I've never treated a person in such a manner, and the rate of growth of a company wouldn't change that.
It is, of course, part of the systemic issues in startup/tech/Silicon Valley/whatever. A transparent company, dedicated to human dignity, would not have this issue. This conversation predates GitHub, there is no excuse they can give that mitigates their choices.
