Molecular Sieve DO NOT EAT

joeyh at

I imagine the design process for this went something like:

A: So, another day another dessicant packet design.
B: Yeah, so boring.
A: What's this one for?
B: Big white antibiotics pills.
A: Oh then we probably shouldn't use a white pill-shaped container, should we?
B: Well, we could just put "DO NOT EAT" on it.
A: Heh. Actually, I have been kicking around an idea for building the dessicant into the lid of the pill bottle, to avoid accidental ingestion...
B: Ssh, you'll design us out of our jobs! (Also, that might be patentable, don't want BIGPHARMACO to own that IP!)
A: Thanks, yeah. Well, "DO NOT EAT", it's kind of Alice in Wonderland isn't it?
B: Yeah, and the patient is probably half off their head with fever too. Maybe I could make 1% of them say "EAT ME" instead?
A: Really thinking of quitting soon eh?
B: No comment. [pause] Oh take a look at this file 2015molsievecontainer.final.really.final2.done.accepted.signedoff-by-steve.doc ... it's almost the same shape as those amoxocyclin pills, and if you remove the dye process...
A: Exact same base shade of white!
B: Heh, we could put "molecular sieve" on the warning label too, the consumers have learned to avoid "dessicant" by now.
A: What happens if they ingest one of these anyway?
B: Dunno. It's FDA approved for contact with pills innit.
A: Sent the updated file to Steve. Early lunch?
