It might be a privilege to make choices based on ethics in addition to price, though I suspect it's also and moreso privileged (and financialized) thinking to consider that more price constrained people can't make such choices.

But to the extent those with more resources (including knowledge) can dedicate more resources and make decisions taking into account more ethics, they ought to as it's a way to circumvent free riding ("weak exploiting the strong", from collective action speak, IIRC).
