Not in a long time have I done so, but this reminds me of wondering whether had Sun been further ahead culturally than they were (at least in the form of their various quasi-open stuff being really free/open) could they/Solaris/SPARC have killed the rest of their peers and far beyond rather than them being among the slayed by Intel/Microsoft/Linux?
