It only has minimal support for image libraries (browsing 5000 thumbnails a dozen at a time is excruciating usability), and on the whole it's not suitable for desktop tasks. Which is fair; the devs care about 10-foot "couch" usage. Although frankly I don't find Kodi too pleasant for audio, either.  BUT, I can add a DLNA audio source to Rhythmbox and a dozen other standard desktop audio players just fine. I'm puzzled why I can't use DLNA to access my image library from Darktable, Digikam, GIMP, LibreOffice, and other applications from which I regularly need to access images on disk. "Accessing images simply and easily" is supposedly the point of DLNA image servers — but no one seems to be working with it.
