Pavilionul Majestății Sale Regelui Mihai I al României fluturând pe Palatul Elisabeta din București
- 8 noiembrie 2013. Regele, Regina și Principii Moștenitori dețin,
fiecare, pavilioane personale distincte; pavilionul se arborează pe
clădire (sau pe un mijloc de transport: automobil, vapor, etc.) numai
atunci când respectivul membru al Familiei Regale este prezent înăuntru.
Conform protocolului, pavilionul ridicat este, întotdeauna, cel al
persoanei regale cu rangul cel mai înalt care este prezentă în clădire.
În zilele obișnuite, turiștii care se plimbă în Parcul Herăstrău din București, în zona „podului cu lebede” aflat la capătul dinspre Arcul de Triumf al Aleii Trandafirilor, pot zări pavilionul ce flutură pe Palatul Elisabeta și pot ști, astfel, dacă „Regele este acasă”. Palatul Elisabeta este cuprins, ca o „insulă”, în interiorul Muzeului Satului, iar pavilonul arborat este, de obicei, cel al Regelui sau cel al Principesei Moștenitoare Margareta. Atunci când nici o persoană din Familia Regală nu se află în Palat, pe clădire flutură un drapel tricolor, fără Stema Regală în centru.

The flag of His Majesty’s King Michael I of Romania flowns on Elisabeta Palace in Bucharest - November 8th, 2013. The King, The Queen and the Crown Princes have distinct personal flags; the flag is flown on some building (or on some car, ship, etc.) only when that member of the Royal Family is present inside. According to the protocol, the flag that is flown belongs to the highest Royal Family member that is present.
During regular days, tourists visiting the Herăstrău Park in Bucharest (on the “swans’ bridge” at the Alley of The Roses, near the Triumphal Arch) may see the flag that is flown on Elisabeta Palace, thus learning if „The King is at home”. The Elisabeta Palace (presently the only official Royal Residence in Bucharest) is surrounded by The Museum of the Romanian Village, in an island-like fashion, and the flag that is flown usually belongs to HM King Michael or Princess Margareta of Romania, his eldest daughter and first successor. When no member of the Royal Family is present, one may see the national three-colour flag flowing on the Palace,in simple form (with no Royal Coat of Arms displayed at its center).
