Many people seem to take pride in their software illiteracy. This just compounds the problem. These days software literacy is fundamental. I can't imagine anyone ever proudly proclaiming that they can't read, but they sure are proud of not understanding the basic problem solving skills needed to navigate modem life. Heavy sigh.

It's not new, nor is it limited to software. Ignorance as a folksiness marker has been rampant in politics everywhere for a long time. In Sweden, especially in the Left, having academic qualifications can be a serious drag on your political career.
