Turns out that an instant way to shut up a child that's running around a pub is to get it's head in the path of an outswinging door.
That'll do it. I'm a parent ad although I do take my kid out for a pint now and again, if she was causing a rumpus we'd leave immediately. Pubs are places for quiet contemplation and adult conversation.
