Kevin Cole at
DC to consider instant-runoff voting in local elections
Washington Post, 2015.01.06 (http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/dc-to-consider-instant-runoff-voting-in-local-elections/2015/01/...)
The D.C. Council will consider changing the way the District of Columbia conducts its elections.
Independent Councilmember David Grosso (http://www.davidgrosso.org/) introduced a bill on Tuesday calling for instant-runoff voting (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instant-runoff_voting) in elections for mayor, the council and attorney general.
The League of Women Voters, DC (http://lwvdc.org/), has also been pushing for this for some time. Instant-runoff (a.k.a. ranked choice) eliminates the penalty of voting for a marginal candidate, allowing folks to vote for someone they want, rather than voting against someone they don't want.
Spread the word and support the effort.
