I actually disagree with that, and your analogy is unsound :)
It seems to me that you are assuming that all "creators" do agree with the current regime of "intellectual property" (IP) that is used by (some) creators to oppress content "consumers".
I'm a "creator" myself and I disagree with the current state of things.
Surely a politician can make good use of the opinions (no matter how few of them there are) of those creators that think "IP" should not be allowed to oppress "consumers"?
