  Restoring the wife's notebook #harddrive, which presented #smart errors. Fingers crossed to reallocate the sectors.

  

  Just for the record, it worked: #smart indicated that there were pending sectors, which went away when I wrote over them.

  #protip: to use #mdadm to convert #inplace a regular #HD with #linux to a degraded #RAID1, use metadata format 1.0.
