@metztli ...which sadly has a #NaturallySpeaking dependency, like a lot of these applications. We need an RMS-approved dictation engine :)
-
@metztli Interesting. I wonder how it compares to !emacs VoiceCode. http://ur1.ca/du601
-
@arnebab considered using emacsclient + an org capture template and (require 'org-protocol)? It's more directly designed for that case.
-
@arnebab That looks suspiciously like reinventing !emacs #emacsclient :)

http://ur1.ca/dfhyr Reinhart-Rogoff errors "should lead us to reassess the austerity agenda itself in both Europe and the United States."

@arnebab the other problem is that I don't exactly type properly, so I often reach capslock with my pinky anyway. :S
-
@arnebab I was never able to get used to that binding. I think it's the context switching, having it in X but not in console.
-
best !emacs decision I've made in a while: binding capslock to hippie-expand. http://ur1.ca/c3hvx
-
The common law is a bit like UNIX: small incremental hacks pretending they're a system. In both cases, big problems take a while to solve.
-
@marjoleink you might also consider #AFS as #NFS has some baked-in assumptions (like that your UID is the same on both boxen).
-
@marjoleink re: nfs, you also get to make fun decisions like hard vs. soft timeouts and TCP vs. UDP transmission
-
@marjoleink okay, that sounds like a workable setup. :)
-
@marjoleink #NFS works well if the two hosts are always on the same LAN together. if one is a mobile machine, I'd recommend #SSHFS instead.
-
@marjoleink if possible, see if the software project has its own (external) !debian repos. dependency/lib versions can be significant.
-
have a good #fawkesday everybody. #rememberremember
-
@jacobwb thanks for your concern. %)
-
@bijan I recommend http://grml.org/ Debian Live based, and tuned for comfortable terminal hacking (especially if you like Zsh).
-
@wwwwolf it really is. If you want, you can even turn your !emacs config into a series of !org files. See e.g. http://ur1.ca/ajeu4
-
@jaimealsilva for removable device support, I recommend a udev setup, or just old-fashioned `mount'.
