Yep. In terms of key bits coming up where the terror is going to ratchet up further:

2019-01-03 -- The 116th Congress convenes. A new funding bill is likely to be passed by the House. It is not at all likely to clear all remaining constitutionally-required stages to become law.

2019-01-22 -- Earliest possible day that IRS tax filing season begins, although not expected to happen

2019-01-29 -- Expected date for the State of the Union Address. Date TurboTax thinks tax filing season begins.

2018-01-31 -- SNAP runs out of money. No more "food stamps" for anybody across the nation.

2018-02-15 -- Normally there would be income tax refund checks from the IRS floating around by now. That won't be happening.

2018-04-15 -- Tax returns are still due by this date regardless of there being a shutdown or having been a shutdown.

The expectation among my unit's line staff is that POTUS is playing the long game and waiting for pressure to build when "food stamp" money disappears and income tax refund checks don't show up. Once that starts happening, he'll have far more leverage than Congress in the mess. They'll have painted themselves into a corner legislatively and he'll be able to say legitimately that he's only following the laws as written.

Yeah, scientific research for you is going to be upended and my bank account is going to be vaporized. Hopefully I don't lose my house if this drags on.
