“I don't vote for #twin_parties candidates for the White House or governor's mansion. I occasionally may for Congress or the legislature, but even there, I prefer to support 3rd parties. Fortunately, in California, lower-level offices are party-free.”

Ohio's on the verge of the duopoly changing from Republicans-Democrats to Republicans-Greens, though. The fatal blow to the Democrats almost happened in the 2014 gubernatorial with the disastrous showing of Ed Fitzgerald against Governor Kasich where the Green candidate almost bumped Fitzgerald to third place. If a couple thousand votes had gone differently, the Democrats would've become a third party in Ohio by operation of law while also losing automatic ballot access and more. If the Greens make a strong enough showing in this presidential contest then in the 2018 gubernatorial when Governor Kasich is term-limited out there is a good chance the duopoly may finally get crushed.
