When a man like that has the power of a nation-state's military and interior policing agencies to be able to lash out, eventually he will. Combined with the pardon power and the effective neutering of the Congress relative to the impeachment power, this will be inevitable. The resistance will end in an unexpected fashion that nobody will predict, I suppose.
