Wrapping Up May 2021
Wrapping up May 2021 in no particular order:
- Sometimes
I find weirdness on arXiv
- This looks like a forgotten paper: Jonas Höchst et al., “PIMOD: A Tool for Configuring Single-Board Computer Operating System Images,” ArXiv:2010.07833 [Cs], October 15, 2020, http://arxiv.org/abs/2010.07833.
- Sometimes ideas get thrown out there and they just get overlooked it seems: Yehia Elkhatib et al., “On Using Micro-Clouds to Deliver the Fog,” ArXiv:1703.00375 [Cs], February 6, 2017, http://arxiv.org/abs/1703.00375.
- Writing
continues
- I sent copies of the novellas to the Internet Archive as donations for Controlled Digital Lending. I wonder if they’ll accept them.
- The third novella remains stuck in proofing.
-
Health matters are odd
- Plateaus in weight loss are not fun. I’m stuck in the range of 185-190 pounds at a height of 68 inches. That leaves my Body Mass Index in the range of 28.1-28.9. The goal is to get my Body Mass Index to 24.9 or lower which means a minimum target weight of 163 pounds.
- I may be losing my eyesight. I don’t know what is going on but I cannot get scheduled with an ophthalmologist yet. Yes, this bothers me.
- Social
matters are rough right now
- I tried to set up a profile on Match. I didn’t realize that Match was more expensive per month than my broadband provider’s Monthly Recurring Charge for service to my house. That effort is being abandoned.
- Local weather has been a roller coaster and that has made outside time rougher
- Campaigning should start in June. I’m just at a loss as to how I’m going to approach it. I’m downloading the precinct maps from here to see where I need to be analyzing things locally: https://lookup.boe.ohio.gov/vtrapp/ashtabula/precandpoll.aspx
- Apparently somebody is shooting their mouth off again suggesting that a coup in the United States would be a great idea. I disagree with Gabriel Malor insofar that this is likely coming sooner than 2025. Heck, six months ago the author Rod Dreher wrote these prophetic words: “You watch: this movement is going to end up demanding that Gen. Flynn become the military dictator of America.” With the New York Times calling that particular movement nearly as popular as major religions we have a bit of a problem.
- Some shows being watched…
