United States Constitution, Article VI, Paragraph 2: "This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding."

26 USC 280E: "No deduction or credit shall be allowed for any amount paid or incurred during the taxable year in carrying on any trade or business if such trade or business (or the activities which comprise such trade or business) consists of trafficking in controlled substances (within the meaning of schedule I and II of the Controlled Substances Act) which is prohibited by Federal law or the law of any State in which such trade or business is conducted. "

The Single Narcotics Control Convention (a treaty currently headed by a UN system organization but dates back to the League of Nations which is where the marijuana classification comes from), federal implementing legislation for that treaty called the Controlled Substances Act which conforms to the treaty putting it on Schedule I, and Section 280E of the Internal Revenue Code together all impair profits on a good day. The wildfires helped ensure that money was literally taken out of the economy in two ways. These criminals no longer have crop to sell. Since they're cash enterprises, there also literally was actual cash taken out of the economy as rather large amounts of treasury notes burned at these locations.

This will be yet another potentially flashpoint in the upcoming budget negotiations, oddly enough.
