1. 38 calls today. Too much craziness. Some people bordered on getting watchlisted.

2. People at work are complaining about cardiac problems induced by stress at work. See above. At least I'm willing to reach for the forms to do watchlisting.

3. National Response Framework mutual aid crap just kicked in. @lnxwalt@microca.st will definitely appreciate this. One campus and one call site are now answering his employer's phones. My employer's phones are interconnected with the other agency's pretty much permanently so we can do hand-overs like this. While that campus and that call site answer another agency's calls that means the rest of us pick up the remaining load from our own agency. See above about the craziness. We've been feeling certain too many of our callers are chemically enhanced, so to say, by Schedule A narcotics.

4. For some reason we're furloughing some of my site's staff. No, I'm not being furloughed. My cube already has a dark storm cloud over it with some of my wild and wacky cases I have to work. The dark clouds of the people departing will migrate to my cube soon too.

5. I used to have a life. Where did it disappear to?

When I first started with $EMPLOYER (longer ago than I care to remember; I never intended to stay with the agency this long), the SoCal office borrowed hundreds of $YOUR_AGENCY employees from the Central Cal office for phone duty. It was quite an experience.

Yup.  We especially got called up during Sandy.  This is in one of the annexes to the NRF.  If the crap in Louisiana doesn't get better or another incident erupts then more of us will be shunted over to back up teleregistration.  We merely have around 25,000 Contact Representatives dispersed across CONUS and Puerto Rico.
