Regarding @MyNiceDisplayName - is it documented anywhere? I'm not very comfortable changing API based on "comments" :-)
Regarding linebreaks: yes, v.10 of AndStatus allows adding newline characters into the message. I will think about auto converting messages to HTML at the client.
BTW in this comment I manually added HTML br...
