I have two monitors that I've been using since... gosh, 2006. 8 years! Not bad. (Originally one was mine and one was Morgan's, but she stopped using hers so I took it over.)
Well, one of them's finally dead. Suddenly very apparent how my workflow "expects" dual monitors these days.
Maybe the thrift store has a cheap one.

Also, it's hard to believe that the period of time where I got a new monitor was also 8 years ago. Less for the monitor, but for the events surrounding it.
I purchased my monitor in 2005 and it's still going strong. I haven't considered the possibility of it dying, but if it does die I can't complain.
Just as I don't hack on hardware, or want to deal with partitions, I also don't buy devices that don't come with their own built-in display. When my display breaks, I am greatly sad... T_T
