Are there any examples of content address store systems which have migrated hash versions non-awkwardly? Just curious.

ipfs hasn't migrated, but its hash starts with an indicator of what hash algorithm is used, for this very purpose.

I might be dreaming (can't find with a quick search), but maybe Freenet.
Related, http://multiformats.io/multihash/ seems like a good idea.
