Did an ascii art mockup last night, which I will hopefully implement today.
It may be a bit over-ambitious, but the advantage of emacs is that the ascii art mockup you make isn't too unrealistic, since it will really just be an ascii art interface...

Almost all of the ActivityStreams parsing / manipulation library for has been ported to emacs lisp now. So I can focus on the client now.
