Toronto Observations
David Chung at
I was in Toronto, Canada for the past week for vacation and despite growing up there, here are a few observations I've had:
Toronto really is a clean city in comparison to other major American cities. Even the homeless was clean!
Speaking of cleanliness, I find that cigarettes commonly used in Canada tend to have a cleaner smell and at least has a hint of tobacco (still prefer not to breathe that in). I don't know why American cigarettes smell so toxic -- I don't think there's barely even any tobacco in them!
Drunk Torontonians are super friendly. I rode transit from downtown Toronto after a baseball and soccer game so the transit system were pretty crowded and a lot of people were drunk. The group of drunkards that sat by me shared their intimate photos as if I was already part of their group.
Toronto traffic is horrid. There doesn't seem to be an off-peak time to use the freeways. On the other hand, the drivers are a lot more competent compared to Honolulu drivers.
A lot of American companies penetrated the city and perhaps Canada in general. Things I thought were exclusively American are making their way north.
The rumours are true! McDonalds coffee is really good and Timmies coffee is now watery!
