Just got back from a vegan potluck. It was cool; the people were very nice and the good was delicious.

But I felt like the conversation points were on par with Evangelical Christianity. "When did you become vegan?" was said in the same manner as "When did you get saved?" And there was such a focus on raising awareness and converting people.

Don't get me wrong, I had a great time. But that stuff weirds me out a bit, this idea that everyone has to be like you because your way of doing or being it's the only right way. Fuck confirmation bias.

Much like evangelical situations, were these newer vegans? There are recent vegan and atheism trends in my region. I've found that the new ones go through this ritual but the older ones tend to stay out of it.

Once a practice like that is fully (and unconsciously) part of your life, so you seek to confirm it as often?
