When I most recently watched it, I particularly thought of @bkuhn during the scene where George shakes Potter's hand and then looks like he'd want some Purell.

Apparently gel ethyl alcohol hand sanitizer did not exist at the time in which that scene takes place; it was invented in 1966 by Lupe Hernandez of Bakersfield, Calif.

The sad part is that when I was presented with that Potter-esque situation, I took the job for a while before realizing I made the mistake.

I'll forever be jealous that George Bailey "didn't need 24 hours, and didn't need to talk it over with anyone".

I still saved the Building and Loan on the other side of the question, but it was quite a detour.
