I suppose I don't need to tell you this, but you might wish to stay away from recent Thinkpad models.

Well, I'm locking in on these14" 64-bit T60s as they are coreboot friendly, even though they are as bulky as a 15" T43 (not sure why, relates to the 64 bit thing?).

But, why do you mention avoiding newer thinkpads in this context (i.e., I assume it's not because coreboot doesn't work with them?)

I have a new Thinkpad issued by $DAYJOB. Trackpad is completely unusable. I had to disable and buy a mouse. I've heard very similar reports from purchasers of the same and other new lines of Thinkpads.

Maybe he's making a reference to some sort of removal of the tracpoint? My T480 from last year still has one though...

I don't use it as much as I thought I would when I got this laptop, but it is very nice when it is useful. I'll probably use it more as I have it more, I've just been using almost exclusively tracpads for years.
