@sazius@pump.saz.im I'd say mcabber is definitely worth a look. Does everything I need and more. Supports external/scripting control via a fifo. Only issue I've ever run into is some times it tries to do both GPG and OTR and that makes a bit of a mess. But can be fixed by setting contacts to only do one or the other on a per contact basis. Leave mine running in a screen 24/7 never had an issue. Also wrote a small script to bounce messages to it to my mobile.. But as you are trying to go one account you wouldn't need that.
