@jpope@io.jpope.org I definitely hear your complaints about Yacy. And I agree with them. I still prefer Yacys approach (being independent instead of meta). In my view meta search engines just inherit the problems of their sources, censorship, promoted results, etc. Yes they water it down by using multiple sources but as the situation gets worse that watering down will have less effect.

I have yet to give Yacy a good try (several month) in proxy mode as that may well improve the search results I get. Maybe now that my messing about with getting ownCloud up is winding down I'll give it another go.
