@ssweeny@pumpbuddy.us I switched to selfhosted (from talkr.im) for similar reason plus unexpected outages. This coming closure is just another pointer to the fact that if you don't control the server you have no assurance of stability. At least with XMPP it is not too hard to migrate to a new server. Roster migration would be a killer feature tho.
