Gotten to the point that the type checker is type checking my chroots, and is all like "what, you can't run a ubuntu chroot on debian". Now I have to convince it that it's wrong..

What does "type checking my chroot" mean? Compile time checking for the presence or absence of certain characteristics of a given file system?

It means type checking the definition of a set of machines, some of which have chroots, and in this case, determining if those chroots can run on the machines they've been assigned to.
