I know the Republic doesn't stand or fall on this question, but one thing this whole Congresswomen-being-barred-by-Israel flap has really brought home to me is the weird mismatch between the spelling of Rep. Tlaib's name and how it's pronounced:
The Romanized spelling, I mean. (Obviously, but just pre-empting the "Well, actually" crowd (well-actualizers?) who might point out that its spelling in Arabic is not confusing at all -- though one of the points made in that link is that it might be ambiguous there too.)
I know very little about Arabic, but I believe the last phrase to be true based on region, more so in Arabic than in English, though La Croix the drink is pronounced different than the St. Croix river, so...yeah
