mmm I think that they use the term FLO mainly to include other works different than software, where "open" is a more used term (open knowledge, open data...).

OTOH, that person is talking in reddit about what other people think about his project... I would ask directly to the other people about the project and my concerns, before make a judgement about them...

Cheer up friend! They are just one more group of peole trying their way to support the movement, and starting, so they need to reach a wide audience. With time, we'll se how the project gets better defined and how it engages well (or not) with the rest of the initiatives.
