“Hm? What's with Thunderbird and gmail?”

ok ,, didn't relise there was a reply ..

on my mum's computer -

she was trying to reply to someone and it found a gmail address (possibly in contractsm not sure) and kept trying to use that instead of the actual email address the person she was replying to was actually using (an email address at her contact's isp) .. eventually got it to use the right one but it wasnt as the ui kept trying to change it to the gmail address..

could be a bug.. but its not one I've seen before and she hasn't changed any settings or done any new installs of anything that recently ..

its worrying that it would favour email addresses from any single provider over aver any other so much that it makes it hard to use another even the one the in email she was repying to.

its ok to have a choice there if it exists (and that "exists" should be by a user action and nothing else) but not ok to make it hard for a user to choose what they want to use.

I was probably a bit harsh in that post but can you really blame me after what Ive been through over the past few years?

even the slightest hint of nastyness, even if not intentional has me fuming these days

regarding thunderbird I still prefer it over some other options ..

such as that outlook prison where you can't even look at the headers (which any half decent email client must be able to show a user! - they often contain important clues that users should learn about to avoid scams!)

I was just about to delete the comment but saw your reply

apologies to any mozillians reading this ..

maybe I overreacted to what could be just a small ui bug
