I'm not sure those two things are safe to do. On the annoying side, you might be unsubscribed from some things with unsubscription links, or subscribed to things you don't want to be, but I imagine worse things could happen if site treats a URL provided in email as a single authorization factor.

These are good points that I didn't think about in my frustration at disappearing GPL violation reports and the like.

I assume bulk submission to archive.org/web is considered a violation of their ToS?

All the more reason for a "when you see something, say something" philosophy for all who read this: if you see something about a GPL violation or some political issue related to Free Software politics on the web, submit the URL to archive.org/web/.
