Probably not. Githost.io was independent of Gitlab.com/Gitlab BV, which bought out gitorious. I would guess Gitlab.com gratis everything is what really made githost.io not viable. Unfortunately probably not many people who want to pay extra just to not have access to some proprietary features.

I suspect they expected a burst of growth because of gitorious' impending shutdown. I wonder just how much room there is for smaller code-hosting beehives with Github (and to a lesser degree Bitbucket) dominating the field so thoroughly.

Wow, two weeks notice? That's pretty drastic. At least the Gitorious buyout had a little bit more time than that for people to migrate.
