Lots of smart things there. Happy to see the "platform cooperative" evangelists practicing.

There's discussion to be had over at https://octodon.social/users/cwebber/updates/182505 whether social measures like this are enough, or whether the technology needs to create different forces than what federation does. The elephant (heh) in the room is Scuttlebutt, although I did mention it by name in an early comment.

Following that discussion requires lots of clicking, and I still didn't find the scuttlebutt mention.

What does "whether the technology needs to create different forces than what federation does" mean? At least some actors are missing.

Thanks for posting this. As I wish to join the practice, I now have an account @trc@social.ccop while I am trying to reduce my social media diet at the same time. Not sure how this will end up. I think I will start by copying some dents from here to there, and playing ping-pong between @trc@quitter.se and @trc@social.ccop .

Also, I suppose many of us would like to make identi.ca a co-op platform too. I pledge to contribute financially toward its realization. Please ping me for works we can do next.

AFAIK some people are working towards pump.io (the software project) join Conservancy. Maybe a node too, identi.ca? https://github.com/pump-io/pump.io/wiki/Meeting-2017-09-15 I feel that multiple organizational forms are fine, with the right values and objectives. I hope more platform cooperatives take off, but platform non-profit charities so far have been more important.
