5 - 'Matching' drives at the end of the year seriously interfere with the long-term goal of transitioning to being a monthly donor. I know that in most cases, the intent is sincere (people give more during the holiday/tax season and matching increases awareness and combats inertia). Sometimes, however, it can be a tad self-serving on the part of the matcher. Anonymous match funders are preferable. Or perhaps 'anonymous until the match ends' which is an approach I don't think I've seen. But it shouldn't be a promotional tool for the matcher.

In any case, having a matching drive at some other time of year would be GREAT, as would having a matching drive that was tied to setting up a monthly donation schedule rather than year-end lump-sum donations. Those could even be combined: 'become a monthly supporter now instead of putting it off, and Dotcom will match'....
