It honestly wouldn't surprise me to see this happening more frequently in the future, and it also wouldn't surprise me that it would be quite effective, especially during the Brexit process where non UK (and even UK!) nationals aren't 100% sure of their legal rights.
But hey, whats a few thousand settled, contributing people you've "encouraged" to emigrate when you're trying to attain your completely arbitrary, ideologically driven manifesto promise of <100,000 net migration?
