I must agree. Using OTR in my chat client is so easy, whereas GPG is so hard.
@testbeta@identi.ca I read the article and other then the code clean up (which will porbably happen now that the main dev is properly funded) I don't see his point. I have set several non-technical users with it and they have had no issues.
it's easy if someone is there to guide you but finding way on one's own, it's a pebbled path, not a difficult or impossible one but you need to understand a lot more to figure whole of it out! How encryption works, what's public-key cryptography, what's public or private key for, it is not improbable for a user to make a mistake & a mistake means failed crypto.
textsecure uses OTR and is extended on that!
