A quote from Linux Voice issue 021 (December 2015), page 19:

“For something more Twitter-esque, try Pump.io (https://pumpit.info), another distributed social network that’s a continuation of the once mildly popular Identica network. Pump.io’s userbase is very small in comparison to Twitter, but you will find some FOSS geeks on there and it has the potential to grow into something much bigger. ”

Identi.ca was never, and still isn't, a network. it was a single server in the decentralized StatusNet network, and now it's a single server in the decentralized Pump network.

And I'd certainly wouldn't call Pump.io "twitter-esque"...

... and the continuation of the OStatus network is ... the OStatus network. quitter.se/no/is/es with their Qvitter front-end over GNU Social is more Twitter-esque than anything out there.
