more important to me than "where's the money coming from?" is "what are your commitments to and expectations of the community?

these sorts of inquiries make f/oss communities appear amazingly awkward and difficult to otherwise normal and upstanding companies.

i'm not sure whether to ask: are you the one taking their money? or do you really think this is about military applications?

(and yes, i understand that "doing good things quietly or anonymously" is not so common these days .. such people do exist.)
